The Community Pride Unit is a project based at Church Action on Poverty. It was founded in 1999 and works with a diverse range of individulas and communities to seek out solutions to the problems of poverty and exclusion in Manchester & Salford. See our section of the CAP website for more information.

Community Pride has developed a unique working methodology which it uses for work with groups called a School of Participation (SoP). This methodology is based upon the educational philosophy of Paulo Freire.

A school of Participation is an alternative space where people can meet to reflect upon their reality, to share experiences, gain skills, learn together and plan actions to have more control over what is happening in their lives and communities.

For more information about our Schools of Participation please download the leaflet.

Community Pride is currently delivering the Take Part Pathfinder in Salford in partnership with Manchester Metropolitan University and Salford City Council.
